A question we often get asked here at Global Drone Solutions, is can you fly a drone over houses or private property in Australia? This is a hard no. Unless you have the property owner’s permission, or you own the property yourself you are not allowed to fly a drone in the area.
Here are the basic rules and regulations you will have to abide by if you are flying a drone.
- Drones can only fly to 120 metres off the ground
- You must keep your drone at least 30 metres away from other people & property
- You must be able to see your drone at all times with your own eyes
- If your drone weighs more than 250g you must keep it at least 5.5km away from a controlled airport
- If you are using your drone in a commercial capacity you must possess a valid drone Pilots license (RPL)
