Remote Pilot Licence (RePL)

A Remote Pilot Licence is required for commercial operators of drones. This CASA-licenced course contains eleven modules, is delivered either online or in a classroom and includes both theory and practical assessments.

Having a RePL allows you to:

  • Operate a drone weighing more than 25 kg but no more than 150 kg for commercial purposes on your own property without needing a ReOC.
  • Work as a remote pilot for a person or organisation that holds a ReOC, or apply for your own ReOC.

Your RePL will specify the type and weight category of the drone you are authorised to operate. This may include: less than 7 kg, less than 25 kg, less than 150 kg (for specific types), and over 150 kg (for specific types).

A RePL does not have an expiry date, and there is no minimum age requirement to obtain one.

Remote Operator’s Certificate (ReOC)

A ReOC allows you or your business to operate as a drone service provider.

Holding a ReOC permits you to:

Employ remote pilots to operate Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) across various weight categories:

  • Less than 7 kg
  • Less than 25 kg
  • Less than 150 kg
  • More than 150 kg (requires additional RPA certification)

It’s important to note that a ReOC itself does not grant you the authority to operate an RPA. To do so, you either need to possess a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) or employ a licensed remote pilot.

As a ReOC holder with Global Drone Solutions, you are responsible for:

  • Developing operational procedures and manuals in accordance with the Part 101 Manual of Standards 2019.
  • Ensuring all remote pilots within your organisation are adequately trained on these operational procedures.
  • Conducting all drone operations in compliance with legal requirements and the specific conditions of your certificate.
  • Maintaining the necessary operational records.
  • Registering your RPA before conducting any flights.

This certification is a critical step in establishing your credibility and ensuring safe, legal drone operations worldwide.
